FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR
The District 21 Medical Examiner's Office in Fort Myers is seeking applicants for the position of a Forensic Investigator (medicolegal death investigator). The District 21 Medical Examiner's Office is N.A.M.E. accredited and a private medical examiner's office. Qualifications include Associates Degree or higher with major course work in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Mortuary Science, Medical Technology and Biology or other related field. Autopsy experience, strong communication skills and a minimum of three years work experience investigating deaths, crimes or accidents are preferred. A medical background is highly desirable. Responsibilities include determining jurisdiction of medical examiner cases, conducting death scene investigations, interacting with law enforcement/medical personnel/families of the deceased and assisting physicians with autopsies. Continuing education and certification by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigation will be required. Drug Free Workplace; successful completion of criminal history background investigation; must possess a valid Florida Driver's license which must be maintained during employment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift and move bodies over 100 pounds; constant exposure to conditions such as radiation, hazardous chemicals, noise, wet, slippery floors/surfaces, odors, and weather; constant communication with staff and outside agencies; communication includes verbal and written; visualize and otherwise identify, observe and assess. Manual and finger strength and dexterity sufficient to operate surgical instruments. Work schedule includes weekends, holidays and shift work. Hourly rate minimum is $25.00 per hour and will be commensurate with experience and education.

FISCAL SPECIALIST
The District 21 Medical Examiner's Office in Fort Myers is seeking applicants for the position of a full-time Fiscal and Records Specialist. The District 21 Medical Examiner's Office is N.A.M.E. accredited facility and a private corporation. Qualifications include an associate's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of full-time administrative support work; or two years of full time administrative support work with two years of work experience with accounts payable duties; Drug Free Workplace; successful completion of criminal history background investigation; must possess a valid Florida Driver's license which must be maintained during employment.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time; frequently move about the office to complete administrative duties; constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine, printer, rotating file cabinets and shredder; frequently communicate and converse with personnel within the office, including outside agencies and minimally families. Must be able to take direction, make decisions, adjust to changes and observe details. Communication includes verbal and written. Duties include managing fiscal records, opening purchase orders, budget, invoicing and management of office records. Work schedule includes weekdays and may be required to be available during disasters. Hourly rate minimum is $23.00 per hour and will be commensurate with experience and education.
